The Carrizo Gorge Part 2
(The Easy Route)

3/28/2004

We tried on the 20th but hte temperature was 97 degrees, so we called it off.
We are attempting this again next sunday the 28th, as the temperature
should be falling back down to 82 degrees.

Pictures of the first trip are here
(The hard way)

This event is taking place in Anza Borrego Desert, in the Jacumba Mountains.

This hike is about 3 miles round trip, up a gentle slope of the carrizo gorge wash. The trail starts on S-2 outside and north of Ocotillo. It is a jeep trail that winds up and thru the gorge thru the sandy wash, then at the end of the trail we will get out and hike the 1.5 miles to the base of the goat canyon, where the trestle is.
Below is the Topo map we will be using to do this, as well as descriptions and geocaching links to the caches we will be visiting.
We will be taking pictures the whole trip.

The caching will start at cache #1The Goat Canyon Trestle Cache, the cache that we got skunked on the last trip. There is also a cache right close to this one as well: Dos Hombres. After we go there, we will head to cache #2: Little Pass, on our way to the mortero palms wash for a little hike and a view of the oasis. Then for those that want there is cache #3 right by there: Griffen Rock. On my way out I intend to grab this cache:Imperial Railway, or go home.

This is the map for this upcoming trip on March 20th.
